Goals
Getting started with the basic terminology and capabilities of Microsoft Word, acquiring practical skills for creating documents, editing, formatting and printing them.
Curriculum
Chapter 1. Getting started with Microsoft Word
Basic terminology and capabilities. Starting and exiting the program. Creating a new document. Using toolbars and commands. Finding and opening an existing document.
Chapter 2. Text input
Mark, copy, move and delete blocks of text. Using commands from drop-down menus, using commands from toolbars and keyboard shortcuts. Spell-check.
Chapter 3. Text formatting
Choosing a font and size of the text. Alignment of the text (Center, Align left, Align right and Justify). Inputting numbers and symbols. Character spacing. Frames and background of a paragraph.
Chapter 4. Creating and formatting tables
Deleting and adding rows and columns to the table, changing width, adding a title to the table. Applying Table AutoFormat.
Chapter 5. Printing a document
Printing a document – the whole document, separate pages. Using the Drawing toolbar. Inserting graphics in a document (WordArt, ClipArt, Images).
