Goals
Building basic skills for working with a computer, the operating system Windows 7 and e-mail software.
Curriculum
Chapter 1. Information organization
Organization of files and folders. Tree structure of MS Windows. Creating new folders, renaming, cutting and copying them. Moving, copying and renaming files. Deleting and restoring deleted items from Recycle Bin.
Chapter 2. Searching for information in the computer
Getting started with search tools. Search criteria. Choosing the right place to search. Choosing a search element – files content, file or folder name. Changing Windows search settings.
Chapter 3. Device management
Disc and peripheral device management. Scanning for errors in hard disks. Installing a printer, a scanner and other peripherals. Tracking and deleting print requests. Changing access rights.
Chapter 4. Sharing resources in the network
Getting started with network sharing. Sharing a folder. Setting access rights for a shared folder. Sharing a device: a DVD, a printer, a scanner.
Chapter 5. Working with e-mail messages
Organization and management of e-mail messages. Creating and sending an e-mail message. Receiving an e-mail message. Replying and forwarding an e-mail message. Tagging important messages. Searching in e-mail messages. Creating new folders and moving messages to a different folder.
